Dr. David Carlton Jr. is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon and has practiced this specialty in Alexandria since 1982. During this time, he also spent 10 years on the active faculty of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the LSU Medical Center in Shreveport. He received his professional training at the LSU School of Dentistry and the LSU Medical Center New Orleans. Dr. Carlton is a member of several related professional associations, which include the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Louisiana Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, American Dental Association, Central Louisiana Dental Association, as well as the American Dental Society of Anesthesia and American Cleft Lip and Palate Association. Dr. Carlton is part of the Central Louisiana Cleft Lip and Palate team.
Dr. Carlton does the entire range of oral surgery procedures, which in part includes wisdom tooth surgery, dental implants, complex tooth extraction, and intravenous anesthesia. He remains active in the care of facial bone fractures and dental injuries as well as reconstructive jaw surgery and surgical treatment of TMJ disorders.
