About Dr. Arnold
P. Steven Arnold Jr., DMD, MD, is a dual-degree, board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon with years of experience. He is originally from Mississippi, but after completing his dental, medical, and oral surgery training in 2008, he moved to Alexandria, Louisiana, to join the team at Alexandria Oral Surgery & Dental Implant Center. Dr. Arnold is dedicated to helping patients become healthier and happier, and we are excited to have him on the team.
Education
After receiving his undergraduate degree in biology, Dr. Arnold gained a BS in physical therapy from the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) in 1993. During his time working as a physical therapist, Dr. Arnold helped rehabilitate TMJ and jaw disorder patients, many of whom also worked with oral surgeons and dental professionals. These cases sparked his interest in dentistry, and he returned to the University of Mississippi to earn his dental degree. There, he received the prestigious Wallace B. Mann Award, which is granted to the dental student graduating with the highest grade point average, and graduated summa cum laude in 2002.
Dr. Arnold decided to continue his training after dental school to treat a wider variety of more complex cases. He attended the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Kentucky, where he earned a medical doctorate in 2005, and he continued his training by completing a one-year general surgery internship at the University of Louisville Hospital.
Residency
While in Louisville, Dr. Arnold completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency in 2008. This six-year dual-degree program gave Dr. Arnold a strong foundation of surgical techniques through hands-on experience with real patients. The combination of a medical degree and an oral surgery specialty allows him to provide patients with the best possible care.
Hobbies
When he is not working, Dr. Arnold enjoys fishing, hunting, running, and spending time with his family.
